The Only Place Where You Can Read My Thoughts!
My turn for a short trip downtown

Yep, you read right ... today I took a short trip downtown and tried to document it with some photos that I took. Our friend Firas advised me to take my cam along and that's exactly what I did; I will tell you the story as you go through the photos, so here you go!

I parked my car in Shabsogh; it was so full that I had to go all the way to the upper floors, and the view there was pretty nice, so I captured it :)

(Click on the photos to enlarge)

The whole purpose of my trip was to buy some fabric, cause I want to have some dresses tailored, so I headed straight to the best fabric shop in town; Bayazid in Souq Mango. 3am Abu Faris and his sons run this shop and they have the best textiles ever.

The shop from the outside

3am Abu Faris (Owner of the shop)

Faris (The eldest son)
I got myself some of the tooty fabric he is holding, cool ha?

The shop from the inside

Souq Mango was quiet today, not so many shoppers around

This path leads to Souq Bsharat

These very old stairs connect Souq Mango to Basman Street

Souq El 3arayes in Souq Mango

Then I went out of Souq Mango to go back and took more pictures :)

Far view of Gold Souq

I took this while crossing the street

Heading back to Shabsogh where you can see all the old restaurants

Some people were having lunch at Al Naja7 Restaurant

I bought a glass of the country's best fruit cocktail (you all should try it)

An inviting smile from the owner

Finally, a friendly smile from the Shabsogh employee responsible for the ground floor of the multi-level parking.

So, there you have it guys; I hope you enjoyed my very short trip downtown; maybe next time I will spend some more time and capture more of downtown beauty - I promise.

Khalida,
Pictures talk more a thousand words, and stir storms and volcanos in the heart to wander aimelessly in the streets of down town.
Gosh I miss Amman

Isn't the blogosphere amazing ;) to get you to go and have such a great time downtown! I love the pictures...

I discovered the shabsogh parking just recently, and it's very convenient, but next time try taking the "serveece" ;)

Didn't you buy any fresh nuts, or some knafeh??!!

Dar - Yes I had fun
The color is so nice and the fabric is great kaman .. inshallah it will be a nice dress
I was waiting for the light to turn green when I took this picture but I was standing still
I never tried 2asab juice .. where do you get that?

ProudJordanian - I know what you mean .. I lived abroad for some time and I missed everything about Amman. My sister was with me yesterday and she is about to travel to USA to live with her husband, and she told me that the most thing she will miss about Amman is Wast El Balad .. we can't blame her

Natasha - Thank you for your comment .. glad you liked my pictures

Lina - Glad you liked the pictures .. well yeah, being a blogger among the Jordanian blogosphere; it encouraged me to grab my cam and just ask permission from people to take their pictures .. they were so cooperative
I don't like using "serveece" to tell you the truth - ehhhh bad memories :)
the best knafeh in town is "7abibah" but in We7dat Madaba Street .. that's where I get my knafeh

What fun! Ya salaam, I miss the balad. I used to taxi in, but this parkng area sounds like a better alternative.

SO, where is the best place to go for fairly well-made kid's and ladies clothes there? Need to start Christmas shopping.

While I am at it, is Wehdat still the best place for upholstery fabric?

Good pictures. I like that you showed the human element of downtown.. the people.

It's good to see downtown being discussed on Jordan's blogs.

Thanks

Rasha - You are welcome

Ahmad - Thank you for dropping by and welcome to my blog
I thought that showing the human element will personalize the experience a little more ..
This has become a popular topic in Jordan blogosphere, so why don't we utilize this as a means to document Jordanian heritage?? What do you think?
