What is wrong with this picture??

A disturbing accident took place in Madaba last Wednesday afternoon! This 2.5 year old boy took a fatal action on the roof top of his family residence while he was accompanying his mother. The shocking news state that this boy approached a wire protruding from the high voltage lines only to be electrified in a way beyond repair; he lost his right arm from the shoulder and doctors are debating to amputate his left leg as it is burned to the bone. As I was hearing this piece of shocking news on Al Wakeel’s Radio Show; Bisara7a Ma3 Al Wakeel, I felt sick to my stomach for the negligence and carelessness we have; exactly whose responsibility is it that Barakat is lying on a hospital bed in the ICU, armless and might also lose his leg? Is it the responsibility of the Electricity Company? Or the house owner? Or the mother herself who is in a state of nervous breakdown till now?

On the show; it was mentioned that the high voltage lines are as close to the roof of the house as 35 cm only. It was also mentioned that the boy reached it with his bare hand and in another story; he was holding a pipe.

It is also worth mentioning here that this is the third accident of this kind in Madaba this year only, so do we see a pattern here?

I wish Barakat to get well soon and may God bless his family with patience and endurance.

i would say eno it is the owners fault , cuz those lines as was mentioned were up there before he added the extra floors , bs in the same time they shouldnt be neer building this way , they should have keep a saftey distance regardless if it was only a ground floor !!!
it is really sad for the kid !

Poor kid!

The problem is that cities in Jordan expand horizontally, and the high voltage network was usually put on the outskirts of a city, but now it has become in the middle of the city due to people growth.

On the other hand, people can barely afford buying a home or a land. I guess both sides are to blame!

We don't have environmental groups, consumer protection groups, we have nothing that care for the welfare of people and retaining their basic rights! The parents should seek a counselor now,I mean the mother will always blame her self and live with this misery.

A few years ago I lost a second cousin to a similar accident. He was 27. The blame game never ended: is it the contractor's fault or the electricity company? For all that matters, he died a terrible death; ~30 KV is what I heard the voltage was; and it threw him off the roof of the building. The scene of such high voltage cables running across buildings is disturbing.

This is truely sad and outraging,
such carelessness is completely unacceptable and responsible parties should be brought before justice and prosecuted.

It's the electric company's fault. They should have regulations about building so near their wires. If someone wants to build near them, it should be a law they have to contact the electic company and get them to move the wires. They should be sued!

This is the fault of all..the electric company that doesn't fear allah in it's preparations..the owner for not taking precautions before adding a new floor and the mother who unfortunatly must have known that there is such wires..it's qadar allah and ibtela2 lahom jamee3an..may we all ask allah to relief the pain for the kid and that he may recover to be a willpowered strong young man and who knows.. may be some day he will astonish us all with extra ordinary achievments.

It really shouldn't be legal to build houses this close to high voltage lines, the accident that happened to this little boy is one reson, but the radiation from the lines could be dangerous as well.
Thecaller, in Norway a man named Cato Zahl Pedersen was injured in a similar way as a boy and had to have his arm aputated. he grew up to become a great sportsman, winning several medals in the Paraolympics and even skiing to the South Pole!

I know this is stupid, but if he took a fatal action wouldn't that mean he's dead?
Another idiotic question: If his leg is burned to the core, why are they "debating" amputating it?

It is a horrible accident... And to think it could have been prevented.
I think it's the Electricity company, the house owner and the mother's fault. They are all in the wrong.
But atleast he's still alive... Amputees can still go on to do great things, you know.
